MoDOT to seal Route 136 in Clark County
This operation was previously scheduled to begin last Friday, June 1.
HANNIBAL – MoDOT crews will begin cinder-sealing Route 136 in Clark County beginning Friday, June 8. Traffic will be reduced to one lane between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. during the operation. The project should be complete in 4 to 5 working days, weather permitting.
Cinder sealing is a preventative maintenance measure that helps preserve the current condition of the road, but doesn’t contribute to the smoothness of the surface. The project consists of placing a thin overlay of oil and cinders on the roadway to seal and protect the pavement and extend the pavement life. The roadway can be driven on soon after applied, however motorists are encouraged to drive slowly on the newly sealed road or to use an alternate route to avoid delays.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane with flaggers and a pilot car controlling traffic through the work zone. The roadway will be opened to two lanes at the end of each workday. Please allow ample driving time to your destination.
