35th Festival Of Bluegrass Kicks Off Wednesday
The Kahoka Festival of Bluegrass Music, celebrating its 35th year which opens on Wednesday, August 15th will run through Saturday, August 18th. The festival will feature twelve bands including Gary Waldrep, Gerald Evans & Paradise, The Faris Family, The Wagner Family, The Sally Mountain Show, Bluegrass Traditions, Southern Accent, Blue & Gray Pickers, Larry Wallace, Lindley Creek, The Chris Hill Band, and The Flying Feet Cloggers. The campground will open on Sunday, August 12, 2007.
The highlight of the Friday evening show, starting at 7:30, is the popular Fiddler’s Frolic with The Flying Feet Cloggers. Tuesday night will get the festivities started with the annual carry-in supper starting at 6:30. Drinks will be furnished and everyone is invited to come and bring a covered dish and enjoy the fellowship, food and great music. The gate will befree on Tuesday. The Lions Club of Kahoka will be on hand with their delicious homemade ice cream.
Wednesday night at 7:00 will be the start of the stage concerts and will continue each afternoon andnight through Saturday.
Five local girls and one girl from the Muscatine, IA area will be competing this year for the honor of Miss Kahoka Bluegrass 2007. The local girls are Karissa Boudreau, Bailey Brooks, Niccole Adams, Jorden Plenge, Rebecca Howell and Ashley Weeks from Muscatine, Iowa.
The winner of the coveted title of Miss Kahoka Bluegrass 2007 will be presented at the Bluegrass festival at 5 p.m. Saturday, August 18 at which timethe new queen will be crowned by the 2006 Queen, Courtney Drummond.
