Clark Co. Rural Fire Dept. Receives $37K Federal Grant

Gov. Matt Blunt has announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded Missouri $1,287,149 in grants to support Missouri’s fire departments and to help enhance Missourians safety. 
“All Missourians depend on our courageous firefighters and first responders when an emergency arises,” Blunt said. “These grants will help ensure that Missouri’s firefighters and first responders have the tools they need to effectively and efficiently perform their duties to protect Missouri families.”
The following fire departments received grants:
Appleton City Fire Department, Appleton City, $228,000 for vehicle acquisition
Butterfield Volunteer Fire Department, Butterfield, $209,950 for vehicle acquisition
Clark County Fire Corp., Kahoka, $37,464 for operations and safety
Concordia Fire Protection District, Concordia, $88,688 for vehicle acquisition
Elkland Fire Protection District, Elkland, $209,062 for vehicle acquisition
Freeburg Community Fire Association Inc, Freeburg, $121,450 for operations and safety
Lawson Community Fire & Rescue Protection District, Lawson, $47,025 for vehicle acquisition
Marble Hill Fire and Rescue, Marble Hill, $175,750 for vehicle acquisition
Portageville Rural Fire Association, Portageville, $72,008 for operations and safety
Riverview Fire Protection District, Riverview, $54,527 for operations and safety
Tri-Cities Fire Protection District,  Purcell, $43,225 for operations and safety
“We’re going to buy protective turnout gear–hats, coats, gloves” said Clark Co. Fire Dept. official Mick Wood.  This will allow us to have the most up-to-date equipment.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program awards grants to local fire departments. The grant program provides the departments with the tools they need to enhance the safety of the public they serve and their firefighters.
