Clark Co. R-1 District Wellness Committee To Meet Nov. 19

The Clark County R-1 School District wellness committee will hold a meeting on Monday, November 19.  The meeting will be at the Central Office starting at 6:00 p.m.
The Missouri Department of Education required each district to form a wellness committee last school year to develop a comprehensive district wellness program. This committee presented the wellness policy and made several recommendations to the school board last year dealing with the school lunch program, physical education classes, health classes, district health services and screenings, vending machines, and classroom treats/snacks.  The committee is required to meet once per year to evaluate the effectiveness of the policy and to make recommendations for any necessary changes.  The committee must consist of at least one of the following: parent, student, nurse, school food service representative, board member, school administrator, member of the public, and other community members as appropriate.  The meeting must adhere to the requirements of the Missouri Sunshine Law and as such is open to all interested patrons.  The committee welcomes input from our community and encourages all interested patrons to attend the meeting.  The committee will make a recommendation to the school board at the monthly meeting in December to either keep the current wellness policy or make recommended changes to the policy.
