Kahoka’s Pamida Store To Close

By Mike Scott

“We are closing the Kahoka store, unfortunately,” said Pamida Public Relations Manager Kerry Heinrich in a telephone interview Friday.
Four Pamida stores in Missouri will close.  In addition to Kahoka, the Omaha-based company will close its stores in Milan, Monroe City and Bethany.  In Iowa, the stores in Marengo and Corning will close, as will the Mt. Sterling, Illinois.
“We review the performance of every store periodically, and this one has not generated enough revenue to make it economically viable for the company,” Heinrich.
The company will begin its inventory liquidation immediately, and they expect the store to close in 10-14 weeks.
“It will be a big loss to the community,” Kahoka Clark County Economic Development  chairman Steve Murphy said.  “We’re very sorry to hear about it.  It will have a negative impact on revenue and jobs, not to mention the service they provided.”
