A record crest in the Mississippi River is expected to occur late Tueday, and remain at record levels until the end of the week.

The National Weather Service Advanced Hydrologic Prediction forecasts the river to break the old record of 27.6 feet on late Tuesday, and rise to 28.6 over the following days.  The previous record was set July 10, 1993.
