 ACT Scores Up At CCR-1

ACT test score for college-bound CCR-1 seniors increased last year. The average composite score for the 49 students who took the test was 22.2, which beat both the Missouri average of 21.6, and the national average of 21.1.

“Our ACT scores were great this year,” CCR-1 High School principal Jason Harper said.
ACT tests measure students’ performance in four core areas: English, Mathematics, Reading and Science.

Clark County students scored a 22.5 average in English, topping the Missouri average of 21.4 and the national average of 20.6. In Mathematics, CCR-1 just missed tying the Missouri and national averages of 21.0, scoring a 20.9.
In Reading, CCR-1 scored 22.4, beating Missouri’s 22.0 average, and the 21.4 national average. In science, they scored 22.3, topping the 21.4 Missouri average and the 20.8 national average.

The college readiness letter received from ACT indicates that 80% of tested students are ready of college level English, compared with 73% of Missouri students.

Forty-three percent of students are ready for college algebra, compared with a Missouri average of 42%. CCR-1 students are on par with the Missouri average of students ready for college level social sciences, with 57 percent.

College biology readiness drops to 37%, but still beats the Missouri average of 31 percent.

Twenty-seven percent of CCR-1 students are ready for college coursework in all four areas, while statewide, the average is 24%
