Two More Revere Area Homes Burn

Two More Revere Area Homes Burn

By Mike Scott

Two more abandoned homes in the Revere area burned to the ground early Thursday morning, April 16.  That brings the total number of suspicious fires in the area to six in the past five months.
One fire was located on Main Street in Revere, across a side street from the Revere fire station.  The other was three miles south of Revere on County Road 85.  Neither home had utilities connected, and arson is suspected.
Revere volunteer firefighter Robert Lowry lives in a trailer home  in Revere, next to the home that burned.  He had received the page on the fire south of Revere, and came out of his trailer with his turnout gear, and saw that the house was on fire.  Other Revere firefighters were arriving at the station, and also saw the fire.
Revere firefighters stayed at that fire, while the Clark County Rural responded to the fire on County Road 85.  By the time they arrived on the scene, that building was totally destroyed.
In Revere, they were assisted by Wayland and Alexandria fire departments, as well as Clark County Rural and Farmington.  Their combined effort kept the fire from spreading, although the fire was hot enough to melt the siding on Lowry’s trailer, and the taillights on one of the Revere fire trucks.
“These fires are two of six fires within 5 months and it’s looking like all are possibly a result of arson. The community is starting to bring forth leads and some information, but as of yet, none have given us enough probable cause to make an arrest. Continued assistance by the community has always been the best ammunition against such activity and I am confident that you will continue to provide information to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Please call 660-727-2915 with any information,”?said Clark County Sheriff Paul Gaudette in a press release.
