Foundation Awards Grants to Local Health Organizations
MFH Provides Support for Operational Expenses to Four Nonprofits
(ST. LOUIS) – Four northeast Missouri nonprofits have received grants from the Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH). The grants support nonprofit organizations that work to improve health care for thousands of Missourians.
MFH funded four grants totaling more than $200,000 through its Basic Support program. The Basic Support initiative funds operational expenses for health-related nonprofits’ existing salaries and benefits, equipment and supplies. Organizations receiving Basic Support grants are:
CHART Teen Task Force, Hannibal, $54,236. Funding supports the northeast Missouri organization’s efforts to prevent unplanned pregnancy and reduce sexually transmitted infections among teens.
Clark County Council on Aging, Inc., Kahoka, $45,554. Funding helps the northeast Missouri nonprofit provide Meals on Wheels services, wellness classes and health screenings to low-income elderly.
Hannibal Free Clinic, Hannibal, $5,769. Funding allows this nonprofit to provide free health services in northeast Missouri.
Twin Pike Family YMCA, Louisiana, $100,000. The grant supports the northeast Missouri organization’s efforts to provide programs and services promoting healthy habits, exercise and good nutrition.
Established in 2000, MFH is the largest non-governmental funder of community health activities in Missouri. MFH is in its seventh year of grant making, having issued more than $337 million in grants and awards to date. It is dedicated to serving the uninsured, underinsured and underserved in 84 Missouri counties and the City of St. Louis.
