Clark County Seeks Increase In Dispatch Fees
Clark County is seeking to increase its monthly fee for dispatching within the City of Kahoka by 33 percent, increasing the monthly charge from $1500 to $2000. At the Tuesday, November 10 meeting of the Kahoka Board of Aldermen, Clark County Presiding Commissioner Paul Allen and Captain Robert Beckert presented the request, citing increased costs.
The city’s police committee will review the proposal and make a recommendation next month.
The board amended and gave a final reading to its election ordinance, establishing Tuesday, April 6, as the date for the municipal election for one alderman from each of the East and West Wards.
The board also gave a second reading the proposed animal control ordinance. A final reading will take place at the December meeting.
In other business, the council:
–Approved three building permits, including one for a 190 ft. tower for Southeast Wireless, LLC to be located south of junction 136&81.
–Discussed a new door for the Historical Society. A new door has been purchased, and Alderman Curtis Mack recommended it be professionally installed.
–The board approved $7269.64 for the repair of the cable truck. It also approved the purchase of five receivers at a cost of $7200.
–The city is getting bids for an additions T-1 line to provide internet access for its customers.
–City Attorney Rick Roberts will draft a new contract for between the city and Kahoka Vet Clinic to be reviewed at the December meeting.
–Accepted a the high bid in the amount of $1407 for the sale of a 2002 Chevy Impala from Chicago Motors Inc.
–Discussed rerouting the street by MFA Service Station. The Board instructed City Assistant Sherwood to contact the current property owner to see if he is willing to exchange the originally plotted street for a rerouted street. Upon the agreement of the land owner Mr Sherwood is the contact St Clair Surveyor of Luray Mo to draw new maps.
–Approved putting additional rock on the parking lot behind City Hall, which is owned by St. Paul Church.
–Heard a request from Jennifer LaFrenz and Tim Bertram about the need for new playground equipment in the City Park downtown.
–Police Chief Bill Conger reported 78 calls for service in October.
