CCR-1 District Sells Wyaconda Building
The Clark County R-1 School board accepted an offer for the former elementary school building in Wyaconda during its regular September board meeting, held Thursday, September 9.
The board unanimously accepted an offer of $29,400 from Aero Dynamic Industries. The sale will close on September 30. The district still needs to remove some records and playground equipment from the facility.
The board also gave its consent to a plan to offer bus transportation to students in Kahoka.
“This will help eliminate some of the vehicle congestion around the buildings,” said CCR-1 Superintendent Ritchie Kracht.
Busses will stop at several locations in Kahoka along the routes they currently travel. The program is voluntary, and busses will not stop if no students are waiting, and will not wait for students at any location. Students and parents will be notified of the pick up locations this week.
The board also approved the purchase of a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country minivan from Kahoka Motors. The van will be purchased with stimulus money, and used exclusively to transport special education students.
“We have the stimulus money, and we can spend it or lose it,” said Kracht. The van could be made handicapped accessible at a later date, if needed.
Jason Church reported that the Clark County Middle School has applied for an EMINTS (Enhancing Missouri’s Instructional Networked Teaching Strategies) grant, and the school is among the 69 being considered in the state. Sixty school will be selected at random and awarded grants at three different levels, bringing training and additional technology to the classrooms.
In other business, the board:
-approved a dual credit agreement with Moberly Area Community College.
-Heard an update on the construction projects. Roofers are nearly done at the Middle School, Running Fox and Black Hawk, and Cannon Construction should start soon with the grounds projects.
-Kracht reported that the district has preliminarily passed 14 of 14 area of the Annual Performance Report.
