Raptor Program Excited Farm/City Night Crowd

The Clark County Extension Council hosted the 26th annual Farm/City Night on Saturday, February 19, at the CCR-1 Middle School in Kahoka MO. The World Bird Sanctuary from St. Louis, MO delighted the crowd with their “Raptor Awareness,” program. Many got an up close view of the birds of prey as they soared over the audience’s heads. Featured birds included falcons, hawks, owls and vultures with a description of their habitat and secret weapons.
The Clark County Farm Bureau served a soup and sandwich supper at 4:30 p.m., with over 300 people enjoying the delicious meal. Debby Whiston, Clark County Extension Program Director awarded a certificate of appreciation to the Clark County Farm Bureau for the service to the community. Canned goods collected at the meeting will be given to the Ronald McDonald House. Whiston also provided a certificate to the Mark Lemmon and the Clark County FFA Chapter for assisting with organization and distribution of door prizes.
The Leaders Honor Roll Awards were presented to Linda Plenge and Kent Kirchner for their dedicated service and support of University of Missouri programs and leadership to the Clark County Extension Council. Joe Thomson and Wesley Parish were recognized and presented a plaque for their long-term commitment as members of the Extension Council for over 10 years.
Whiston introduced the current members of the extension council: Kevin Fox, President, Kent Hunziker, Vice-President, Linda Plenge, Secretary, Joe Thompson, Treasurer, Wesley Parish, Patty Phillips, Steve Yates, Anita Arnold, Esther Justice, Pam Oilar, David Hess, Terri Daw, Scott Ensminger, Terry Denham, Judy Pitford, and Ron Brewer.
