St. Patrick on Post Office Cutting Block
The final Leprechaun greetings from St. Patrick, Missouri may have already been sent, as the U.S. Postal Service eyes closing the tiny post office as part of its move to save billions of dollars in expenses. The office postmarks nearly 10,000 pieces of mail in the days leading up to St. Patrick’s Day each year, and is the only St. Patrick in the world with a post office.
St Patrick postal customers received a letter last week, explaining that the workload and revenue at the St. Patrick post office have declined over the past several years. If closed, St. Patrick customers would the option of having their mail delivered, or getting a Post Office Box in Canton.
A community meeting will be held Tuesday, September 13, at 5:00pm.
