Clark County Opens New Bridge
NEW BRIDGE OPEN–The Clark County Commissioners held a ribbon cutting for a new bridge on County Road 55 northwest of Ashton on Tuesday, November 22. The new bridge, with its 120 by 24 ft deck, replaces a narrow, hundred-year-old truss bridge with a five ton limit over the Little Fox River.
John McDaniel, property owner on the north side of the bridge, said, “It’s a great Thanksgiving for me. This project was promised eight years ago, and it’s finally here.”
Commissioner Jerry Neyens said that the bridge was completely built by county employees. Presiding Commissioner Ron Brewer added that the bridge was build wider to handle modern farming equipment.
“This is not an extravagant bridge,” Brewer said. “We have to build bridges wide enough to handle the farmers’ equipment.”
