USDA To Hold Open House Wednesday

USDA Open House

The Clark County Farm Service Agency, Soil & Water Conservation District, and Natural Resources Conservation Service have scheduled their annual Open House for Wednesday, December 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is invited to stop by to visit and enjoy the homemade treats.

Tree applications from MDC (Missouri Department of Conservation) will be available. They may be obtained at the SWCD/NRCS office. 2013 calendars may also be obtained there.

Producers who suffered a loss on 2011 crops may start the application process for the disaster program referred to as SURE. Stop by the FSA office to get started. Producers with wheat planted may report their acreage. The last day to report is December 15.

With the drought and excessive heat suffered the past year, Clark County has been included in some disaster declarations. Emergency Loans are available through FSA Farm Loans.

USDA/SWCD employees are also conducting a food drive during this time. Any donations of non-perishable items would be appreciated. Items collected will be taken to the local food pantry.

For more information about USDA programs, please stop by the offices at the junction of Highways 136 and 81. Office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
