Kansas City Resident Arrested On Drug Charges In Macon County
At approximately 1:15 p.m., on February 20, 2016, Nathaniel D. Bales, 41, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested following a narcotics investigation at the Amtrak Train Depot in La Plata, Missouri. Bales had been a train passenger and information was received that he was possibly in possession of a controlled substance. Bales was detained and a search warrant was executed on his personal belongings which revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine, and the controlled substance alprazolam. Bales was arrested for felony drug trafficking in the first degree and felony possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Macon County Sheriff’s Department pending issuance of an arrest warrant. The investigation was conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control, a Patrol canine officer, and the La Plata Police Department.
The charges for which the Bales was arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be present before of court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
