Kahoka Media, Edina Sentinel Owners Purchase Two Shelby County Papers

Mike and Sue Scott, publishers of The Media and The Edina Sentinel, and NEMOnews.net are adding two more weekly newspapers to their media company.

On Thursday, May 26, the Scotts purchased the Shelby County Herald and the Clarence Courier from Williams Communications, owned by Dennis and Debra Williams of Clarence.

The Shelbyville Herald was established in 1870, and the Clarence Courier has been serving residents since 1881.

“We’re excited to be able to expand our news operation into Shelby County, and to continue the great service that the Williams’ have provided the for so many years.  We plan to offer more news and advertising opportunities to the communities of Shelby County,” said Mike Scott.

“We excited for the challenge,” said Sue Scott, “And we want to welcome all the current staff, contributors and readers to our media family.”

“We are dedicated to serving all our local communities with the best news coverage available, whether in print, online or in social media.  Newspapers aren’t dying, but they are changing, and we plan to be a leader in those changes,” said Mike Scott.  “In whatever format, we will continue to be the living, breathing history of our communities, updated every week, and more accessible than ever before.”
