Police Chief: Shooting Call A Prank

“It was a prank call,” said Kahoka Police Chief Bill Conger.

On Wednesday night, November 13, shortly before 11pm, Kahoka Police, Clark County Sheriff’s deputies and  Clark County ambulance personnel were dispatched to an address on West Main Street in Kahoka, with a report of a five-year-old child having been shot.

Air-Evac was also called to respond to the Kahoka airport.

Shortly thereafter, police were sent to an unknown address on North Walnut Street.

“They kept calling and giving different addresses,” Conger said. “It kept us running around for a while.”

“All units showed up, and everybody responded like they should,” he said, adding that he was happy it was a prank instead of an actual shooting.

The incident is under investigation.
