Roland G. Oilar, age 80, of Kahoka, MO, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020 in the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka where he had been a resident since Thursday.

Rollie was born September 28, 1939 in Kahoka, MO, a son of George A. and Geneva Rigg Oilar.

He was united in marriage to Frances Dieterich on September 9, 1967 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka.

Survivors include his wife, Francie, of Kahoka; two daughters, Cinda (Frank) Shipley of Alexandria, MO and Christa (Scott) Gregory of Kahoka, MO; two grandchildren: Zachary Shipley (Jessica Dalton) of Alexandria and Austin Shipley of Burlington, IA; a great granddaughter, Sara Jane Shipley of Denville, NJ, and Shipley baby boy due in July; one brother, Robert Oilar of Revere, MO; two sisters-in-law, Donna Oilar and Karen Butts, both of Kahoka; as well as nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Francis L. “Buntsy” and Catherine Dieterich; three brothers, Eston, Donald and Edward Oilar; sister, Wilma Kerr and her husband, Charles; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Darlene Oilar, Larry and Donna Dieterich, and Bill Butts.

Rollie was a graduate of Kahoka High School and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka.

He was also a social member of Ayer-Boatman Post # 4342, V.F.W.

He drove trucks all of his life and loved doing so.

He was employed by Wilcoxson Trucking for 29 years and then for Campbell Trucking.  Following his retirement, he continued to haul for others when needed.

He was a “fixture” at the Clark Co. Fair for over 40 years and took great pride in working the track for every event.

Rollie loved playing cards daily if possible.

He also loved road tripping around Kahoka and driving back roads.

More than anything, he enjoyed his family.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Gary Whitaker officiating.

Special music was “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Pretty Good at Drinking Beer”.

Honorary pallbearers were Larry Boudreau, Gene Hamner, Jeff Stone, Verlin McAfee, Larry Mitchell, John Bergman David Bair, Mike Young, and Theodore Peterson.

Pallbearers were Zachary Shipley, Austin Shipley, Carl Hayden, John Oilar, Tyrel Kerr and David Oilar.

Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Visitation was held  at Wilson Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 12:30 until services at 2.

Memorials are suggested to NEMO Hospice.
