Lady Indians Hold Off Centralia

The Clark County Lady Indian softball posted a big win over Centralia at home on Thursday, October 1.
Clark County took an early lead. Alexis Ellison was hit by a pitch to lead off Clark County. Ellison advanced to second on an error, an Ally Fox reached first on a fielder’s choice bunt, while Ellison took third. Fox then stole second. Kiara Brunk popped out, and Ashtyn Ebeling grounded out, allowing Ellison to score, and moving Fox to third. Fox would score on a wild pitch, giving Clark County a 2-0 lead after one inning.
The Lady Indians would add another pair of runs in the third inning. Fox singled to start the inning, then stole second, and moved to third on an error. Ebeling grounded out, bringing Fox home. Elly Hammer hit a solo home to center to give Clark County a 4-0 lead.
Kiara Brunk would score in the fifth inning for Clark County. She singled, and took second on a error. She advanced to third after tagging up on an Ebeling fly out. Brunk scored on a Hamner ground out, putting the Lady Indians up 5-0.
Centralia made a strong comeback in the sixth inning, hitting five singles and a double. Centralia next hit into a double play. The final out came has catcher Elly Hamner tagged a runner stealing home, making the score 5-4. The Lady Indians held off Centralia for another inning to claim the 5-4 win.
Alexis Ellison pitched seven innings, giving up 10 hits and four runs. Genna Edmondson had two hits to lead Clark County’s batting.
