With the health and safety of our community in mind, the Clark County Extension Council has made the decision to suspend holding Farm/City Night for 2021 and hopes to reinstate the event in 2022. In discussions about the unfortunate, but necessary choice, Extension Council member Lora Jacobson voiced, “just because we have to cancel the event, the Food Pantry shouldn’t suffer. They need the support now more than ever.” Traditionally donations of funds and food items requested for the free event have gone to support the Clark County Food Pantry.
For 35 years the Clark County Extension Council has brought the community together for an evening of education and enjoyment and in what would have been the 36th annual Farm/City Night, the Council is channeling its efforts into bringing the community together in a different way to support the Clark County Food Pantry. Members of the community and businesses are being asked to consider transitioning their usual donations to Farm/City Night into a monetary donation for the the Clark County Food Pantry. Funds may be sent to the Clark County Extension Office at 111 E. Court St., Suite 10, Kahoka, MO 63445 by February 26th with a memo line of Clark County Food Pantry and all funds collected will be presented to the Food Pantry.
Extension Council members will also be hosting a Food Drive to benefit the Food Pantry. On Saturday, February 27th from 9-11 am, Extension Council members will be set up in the parking lots of C & R Market, Mac’s Supersaver, and Dollar General in Kahoka to collect canned food items. Clark County 4-H Clubs and the Clark County FFA Chapter will also be collecting food items as a part of the 4-H Feeding Missouri Initiative and their collections will be contributed to the Clark County Food Pantry along with those being collected by the Clark County Extension Council. Anyone with questions can contact the Clark County Extension Office at 660-727-3339.
