ELIZABETH ANN HORNER
Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Horner, age 99 years, 5 months and 11 days old, passed away, Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 2:15 a.m. at the home of her daughter Nancy with her family by her side.
She was born September 25, 1921 in Canton, MO a daughter of Clarence C. and Catherine Louise Dement Schlager.
She married Marion E. Horner on August 20, 1937 in Palmyra, MO by the Rev. Doris in the church parsonage.
He passed away on December 26, 2000.
She loved her family and loved to have family gatherings and cook for everyone.
Betty was known for her German Chocolate cakes and dinner rolls and had made many rolls for her church over the years.
She loved babysitting and keeping the children, enjoyed working in the garden and canning.
She was a farmers wife, worked hard all of her life, was a wonderful mother, never complained and took good care of her husband during his illness.
Betty collected totes full of many memories of her family members over the years with many wedding invitations and funeral folders and clippings from her family.
Church was very important to her and she was a member of Bluff Springs United Methodist Church and its UMW.
She was also a member of the Lewis County Nursing Home Auxiliary.
Survivors include her three children, Ronald Horner, Nancy Barry and Carolyn (Kenneth) Collins all of Canton; grandchildren, Bob (Robin) Horner of Gardner, KS, Richard (Kristy) Horner of Canton, Randy (Carmen) Horner of Miami Beach, FL, Jay Barry of Canton, Debbie (Darrell) Winters of Canton, Shelley (Dan) Wheeler of Blue Springs, MO, John (Connie) Ludwig of Blue Springs, MO; great grandchildren, Drew (Hannah) Horner of Columbia, MO, Lyndsey (Tom Hung) Horner of Overland Park, KS, Jackson Barry of Canton, Matthew Barry of Canton, DeAnn (Pat) McNally of Keokuk, IA, Darin Winters of Overland Park, Collin Wheeler of Overland Park, KS, Carly (Garret) Wightman of Blue Springs, MO and Connor Wheeler of St. Louis, MO, Maddie Ludwig of Denver, CO and Kate Ludwig of Blue Springs, MO; great great grandchildren, Kristen and Kiera McNally both of Keokuk, IA and Charlotte Louise Wightman of Blue Springs, MO and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons in law Ralph Ludwig Jr. and Ronnie Barry, daughter in law, Linda Horner, and three brothers, John, Carl and Bill Schlager.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bluff Springs United Methodist Church near Canton with Pastor Barb Hagerla officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Spring Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton, MO.
The family requests that you please bring and wear a mask if you plan to attend either the funeral or visitation.
The family suggests memorials be made to Bluff Springs Cemetery.
