The City of Kahoka has received another grant for sidewalk improvement. The Transportation Alternative Program grant, in the amount of $127, 603.78, will provide federal funds to replace sidewalks on the north side of Main Street from Morgan to Johnson Street, then north on the west side of Johnson to Commercial, and then a half-block west on the south side of Commercial. It will also include step improvements on the north side near Trends by Shelia, and drainage work in the 100 block of West Main Street near the intersection with Johnson Street.
The project will be put out to bid in the coming weeks. Mayor Jerry Webber hopes work could start this year, but the city has two years to complete the project.
