Lady Indian senior Grace Buschling got her first win of the 2021 season with a commanding run at the Keokuk Cross Country meet on Thursday, September 2. Buschling finished 45 seconds ahead of West Burlington Notre Dame’s Hadley Augustine, with at time of 20:46.
Delana Hess finished ninth, with a time of 24:07. Mia Johnson’s time of 25.17 put her in 16th place, and Trinity Little finished 21st in 25:46. Makenna Hodges rounded out the Lady Indian runners with a 33rd place finish, in 27:46. As a team, the Lady Indians placed third.
In varsity boys action, Ethan Nelson’s time of 18:23 put him in seventh place. The winner was Miles Sheppard of West Hancock, with a scorching time of 15:26.
Landon Arnold placed 32 for Clark County, finishing in 21:04. Carter Harper’s time of 21:38.53 put him in 41st place, and Colin Nichols placed 49th, with a time of 22:24. Harrison Parker battled down the stretch to hold on to 52nd place, with a time of 23.05.63. Landon Toolate and Carter Plenge rounded out the Indian runners with time of 25:29 and 26:15, putting them in 60th and 61st places respectively. The Indians placed sixth as a team.
Clark County’s only JV runner, Brayden Thompson, placed eighth, with a time of 24.33.
Mason McDaniel placed fifth in the middle school boys race, with a time of 9:12.27. Axell King was 31st, with a 12:08 time, and Andrew Tappendorf placed 44th, with a time of 14:32, and Braedyn Clark’s time of 15:10 put him in 47th place.
Izzy Brotherton led the middle school Lady Indians, placing 12th, with a time of 11:10. Irelyn Plenge placed 19th, finishing in 12:10, and Maci Cochenour was 24th, with a time of 13:32.
