ALICE LONG
Alice Long, 82, of Muscatine, formerly of Carman, Illinois, died Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Lutheran Homes Society in Muscatine.
Born June 18, 1939 in Kingston, Iowa she was the daughter of Arthur and Selma (Andries) Wehage.
She met the love of her life E. Charles Manes on October 30, 1967 in Burlington, Iowa.
She was previously married to Leland Long, they were married in 1958 in Salem Lutheran Church.
She worked for Sylvania for five years and Schafer Pen for seven years.
She was a business entrepreneur for many years, along with the love of her life, Charlie.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and enjoyed her time spent with her grandchildren, racing horses, taking photos and throwing parties.
She was instrumental for many years organizing the Gulfport fish fry’s and parade.
Survivors include her step-daughter, Diana Rock of Illinois; two step-sons Dennis Manes of Burlington and Mike Reynolds of Stronghurst, Illinois; 23 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, husbands, two daughters Junille and Sharon, one granddaughter, one great granddaughter and three brothers Kenneth Wehage, Ron Wehage and Dale Wehage.
The funeral service for Alice will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 27th at Peace Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Ralph Andersen will officiate.
Interment will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Mediapolis.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 26th at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
A memorial has been established for Peace Lutheran Church.
