Danny “Palo” James McDaniel

Danny “Palo” James McDaniel, 61, of Luray, passed away at 2:32 P.M. on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at his home in Luray.

Danny was born on August 24, 1960, in Keokuk, IA, the son of James “Junior” and Allie (Mitchell) McDaniel.

He was a 1978 graduate of Clark County High School. Danny was previously employed by Keokuk Steel Castings and retired from BTR also in Keokuk, IA. He had a special love forfarming and continued to farm after retirement.

Danny will be dearly missed by his dogs, Buddy and Spunky. He enjoyed fishing, bow hunting, and in earlier years was an avid golfer. In years past Danny would dress as Santa Clause during the Christmas season and deliver candy to children and businesses around the area. He was a giving man and also took part in the Christmas tree program at local banks every year, something the family encourages everyone to contribute to this year and in the comings.

Survivors include his mother, Allie of Luray, two sisters;Connie (Benjamin) McDaniel-Miller of Luray, Jeannie (Mike) McDaniel-Eads of Moscow Mills, MO, two nieces; Allison McDaniel of Revere, MO, Trishia (Jeremy) Tripp of Fort Madison, IA, two nephews; James (Alana) Creel of Columbia, MO, MAJ. Mitchell (Kayla) Creel of Rineyville, KY, many cousins, aunts, and uncles, and several great nieces andnephews. He was preceded in death by his dad, Junior, a grandfather, James McDaniel, grandmother, Goldie Mitchell and various aunts and uncles.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside services will be held on November 27, 2021, at 3:30 P.M. at the Ashton cemetery. Pastor Shawn McAfee will officiate the service. Memorial contributions in Danny’s name are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Toys for Tots and may be sent to the Wilson and Triplett Funeral Home.
