Shirley Anderson

Shirley Anderson, 84 years of age, of Pampa, Texas, former resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, in Pampa, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 2:00 PM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Celebrant Nick Gerber officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Visitation will be from noon to 1:00 PM at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.

Shirley was born on September 7, 1937, in Shelbina, Missouri, to Marion Matthew and Minnie Esther (Bennett) Moore. Shirley attended school and church in St. Patrick, MO., where she received an excellent education and developed a love for her Savior that never wavered. Shirley married Bill Rogers in 1954 in St. Patrick, Missouri, and together they had six wonderful children. Shirley had been a resident of Hereford, Texas from 1983-2004, where she and her husband, Gene Anderson, owned and operated Anderson Studios. Together they photographed many wonderful memories for the Hereford community. Shirley was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church; St. Anthony’s Rosary Makers and she played the church organ for many years. Shirley enjoyed crocheting and gifting blankets and booties for various charitable organizations and hospitals. Shirley was a writer for national magazines and for several newspapers in Texas. She worked for the radio station in Childress where she had her own morning country music show. Shirley appreciated reading anything about history, traveling, especially to Europe. Shirley never lacked self-confidence and raised her children to believe they could accomplish anything.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children Kimberly Burk and her husband Tim of Edmond, Oklahoma, Karen Brooks and her husband Roy of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kent Rogers and his wife Ronda of Alvord, Texas, Kelly Rogers of Pampa, Texas and Craig Rogers and his wife Nantiya of Centennial, Colorado; two sisters Faye Smith of Galena, Illinois and Mary Lou Rogers of Kennewick, Washington; ten grandchildren Jason and Jesse Thogmartin, Riley, Justin and Ashleigh Rogers, Curtis, Jr., Shantel and Kate Rogers and Bennett and Mati Rogers; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene Anderson, her son Curtis Rogers, her sister Lorna Winget, and a special aunt Ellen Krueger.
