The Northeast Chapter of the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association has announced their 2022 Basketball All District Teams. This story focuses on local area athletes and teams. Please see edinasentinel.com or other NEMOnews Media Group websites for a complete listing.
Area girls Class 1 First Team selections included Delaney Straus of Marion County, Paige Carvajal of La Plata, Ava Williams of North Shelby and Celeste Athon of Green City.
Second team Class 1 All District girls picks included Brashear Junior Lacey Fisher, Halle Kielholtz of Marion County, Claire Coy of La Plata and Kylie Magers of Atlanta. Marion County’s Reed Plunkett was the Class 1 Girls Coach of the Year.
First team Class 1 Boys included Brashear senior Brandon Jochimsen, Brendyn McDaniel of North Shelby, Green City senior Laydon Fields, Gopher Junior Aaron Peavler and Atlanta junior Roman Phillips.
Second team Class 1 boys featured Brashear sophomores Carson Erwin, along with Asher Buggs- Tipton of Green City. Juniors JD Rich of North Shelby, Wes Findling of Novinger and Landon Gilliland of Atlanta. Steve Lasman of Wellsville-Middletown was the Class 1 Boys Coach of the Year.
Class 2 Girls All District players included Scotland County seniors Alaynna Whitaker and Hannah Feeney, along with Schuyler County Junior Kait Hatfield.
Class 2 girls second team picks included Canton Junior Nariah Clay, and Lady Tiger Sophomore Emma Hultz. Schuyler County saw Junior Jacie Morrris along with Senior Nicole Skinner of Paris make the second team.
Scotland County’s Cory Shultz was the Class 2 Girls Coach of the Year.
Boys first team Media All District players included Senior Kabe Hamlin of Scotland County. Sophomore Kale Windy of Schuyler County. Seniors Landon Wood and Zach Heidenwith of Putnam County and Knox County sophomore center Nelson Shinkle.
Boys Class 2 second teamers included Seniors Trevyn Small of Schuyler County, Lance Fowler of Putnam County and Jacob Becker of Knox County.
Kyle Fleshman of Putnam County was the Class 2 Boys Coach of the Year.
Class 3 Girls picks included Milan Senior Cady Pauley, Highland junior Ansley Bringer, South Shelby Junior Miranda Patterson, Palmyra sophomore Candra King and South Shelby junior Kaylee Gaines.
Class 3 Girls second team selections included Clark County Senior Alexis Ellison, Palmyra Freshmen Claire Williams, and Sydney Compton. Seniors Anna Echternacht of Mark Twain and Emma Dovin of South Shelby. Luke O’Laughlin of South Shelby was the Class 3 Girls Coach of the year.
Class 3 Boys picks were Seniors Joshua Talton and Jaedyn Robertson of Monroe City. Junior Jack Logan and Senior Mason Washington of Louisiana. Chekh Niasse of Milan and Highland senior Drew Mallett.
The Class 3 Media boys second team was Seniors Wyatt Malloy of Marceline, Josiah Talton of Monroe City, Alex Loman of Palmyra and Cameron Bringer of Highland Sophomores Ahmet Niasse of Milan and Bear Bock of Palmyra. Brock Edris of Monroe City was Class 3 Boys Coach of the Year.
Area Class 4 and 5 First team girls players included Senior Lexi Miller of Macon. Moberly sophomore Grace Billington, Kirksville Senior Corinne Vorkink and Lady Tiger freshman guard Elli Porter.
Class 4-5 girls second teamers include Macon Senior Shelby Petre. Sophomore Jada Jackson and Junior Channing Totta of Kirksville. Nick Totta of Kirksville was the Class 4-5 Girls Coach of the Year.
Class 4-5 Boys first team players included Juniors Ike Danielson of Kirksville and Boston Douglas of Macon. Senior Aaris Stolte of Hannibal
