Amazing Grace Bible Church welcomed their new teaching pastor, Matt Wallain, in March.
Pastor Matt, 37, grew up in Anderson, Missouri, where he lived with his parents, Gary and Patricia Wallain.
Matt graduated from McDonald County High School and then completed his Bachelor’s Degree in K-12 Physical Education and Health at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri. He also received his Master’s Degree in School Counseling at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Matt is currently working on another master’s degree in seminary.
When Matt was a teenager, he felt led to become a pastor, so he kept pursuing his dream and waited for a door to open.
“I did teaching for a while and counseling,” Matt said.
While he was a school counselor, he volunteered as a pastor at New Life Church in Anderson.
“That was my first church, and it was in my hometown,” Pastor Matt said.
For the last four years, Pastor Matt has served as a youth pastor and worship leader at Fellowship Baptist Church. He heard about an opening at Amazing Grace and decided to look into it.
“I was a youth pastor and had been for the last four years in Neosho. I was looking to pastor and I had a friend that told me about the opening. He gave me the contact info, so I reached out,” Pastor Matt said.
“The church lines up with everything that I believe, as far as scripture goes. My role as the teaching pastor is to equip people and teach scripture. The primary role is to faithfully teach God’s word, so the church is equipped to serve like Jesus served.”
Matt moved here with his wife Amy, and their three children, Brooklyn, 13, Carson, 11, and Landry, 6. Pastor Matt is excited to be here in the community and to serve as the new pastor at Amazing Grace.
“I love the people. I love the community and being on mission together.”
“I want to serve people and encourage them to serve others as well. My goal is to help, and I will be doing a Bible Study soon for adults, and I will also be helping with the youth ministry,” Pastor Matt said.
Amazing Grace plans on attending a church camp this year and having a Vacation Bible School this summer.
Pastor Matt wants to welcome everyone to come to Amazing Grace and wants the people to come as they are.
Amazing Grace Bible Church services are held at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays. This service is followed by fellowship at 10:00 a.m. and ‘Thrive’ Sunday School at 10:35 a.m. The youth group also meets on Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 8:30.
The church is located just outside of Kahoka on Highway 81. For more information about the church, you can look up them up on Facebook or contact the church at 660-727-1347. If you have any other questions, you can call Pastor Matt at 417-483-6423.
