Norma Irene Goodson

Norma Irene Goodson, 81, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A resident of Wayne County, Georgia for the past twenty-one years and former resident of Atlanta, Georgia and Wyaconda, Missouri, Norma was born on August 31, 1941 in Iowa to the late George H. and Orion Smith Swinderman.  Norma was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.   She loved her family and devoted herself to them unselfishly.  When her children were young, Norma stayed home to care for them and they moved quite frequently, as military families often do, throughout her husband’s military career including appointments in Germany and Italy.  Later in life, she worked as an Assistant Budget Officer with the Georgia Department of Agriculture.  Norma loved doing crafts and sewing in her spare time.  She stayed busy gardening and piddling around the house and her cookies were world renowned amongst her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, her two sons, Mark Earl Goodson and Mathew Guy Goodson and her two brothers, Guy Richard Swinderman and George H. Swinderman, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-three years, James Nelson Goodson of Odum, Georgia; three children, Michele Elaine Hudson of Carrollton, Georgia, Michael Edward Goodson and wife, Pam of Odum, Georgia and Penny Joyce Bohannon and husband, Tim of Crowley, Texas; one sister, Judy McElhinney and husband, Elmer of Unionville, Missouri; grandchildren, Jennifer Michelle Payton, Rochele Leann Hugeley, Christopher Michael Goodson, James Mathew Goodson, Jonathon David Goodson, Timothy Patrick Bohannon, Stephanie Diane Bogert and Taylor Irene Bohannon and great grandchildren, Frances Ellen Michele Payton, Michael Judson Payton, Samuel Lee Hudson, Tatum Lucas Hudson, Abbigail Rene Goodson, Christopher Michael Goodson, Jr., Hailey Anna Goodson, Michael Dylan Goodson, Isabelle Elaine Goodson, Huxley Reign Goodson, Adeleine Claire Bogert, Caleb Patrick Bohannon, Audrey Grace Bohannon, Eleanor Rose Bogert and Evelyn Rose Bogert.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
