Cheryl Glee Duckworth
Cheryl Glee Duckworth, 78, of Kahoka, passed away peacefully at 9:00 pm on Monday, November 14, 2022, at her home.
She was born on June 5, 1944, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of the late Floyd & Carrel Viola (Stewart) Howell. Glee married R.C. “Sonny” Duckworth on December 1, 1963, at the First Baptist Church of Kahoka. R.C. preceded her in death on September 13, 2010. Glee and R.C. managed the C.A.R.E. Roller Rink in Kahoka for several years together. Glee was an optometrist’s assistant for several different area optometrists. She was also a teacher’s aide at Shiloh Christian School for a few years.
Glee enjoyed embroidery and crocheting, making blankets for loved ones, watching westerns on television, camping on Oleo Acres, having cookouts, working with flowers, creating floral arrangements and enjoying the outdoors. Glee loved going out to eat with family and friends. She attended Peaksville Christian Church. Glee was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren.
Glee is survived by her daughter; Bethany Duckworth of Macon, grandchildren; Ariana Duckworth, Elias Duckworth-Butner and by a great grandson; Roman McKinstry, a special cousin; East Burke, nieces & nephews; Tommy & Karen Baker, Kenny Baker, Cindy Osman and Donna Hutchinson. In addition to her husband and parents, Glee was preceded in death by three sons; Troy Scott Duckworth and Terry Shawn Duckworth both in infancy and by Ethan Tyler Duckworth and by her brother; Gale Lee “Topper” Howell.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 19th, 2022, at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home of Kahoka. A graveside service honoring Glee’s life will be conducted immediately following the visitation at the Kahoka City Cemetery. Pastor Shawn McAfee will officiate. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to arrive at the funeral home prior to 2:00 pm for procession to the cemetery.
