The Clark County R-1 School district has ordered two school buses. At their December meeting, held last Wednesday, December 7, the board chose to purchase on new and one off-lease bus.
“We ordered a new trip bus,” said Superintendent Dr. Ritchie Kracht. “The cost was $144,690.”
Trip buses are used to transport students on trips, such as athletic or band contests. Trip buses are only used on daily routes in the event of an emergency. The district’s current trip buses both have in excess of 100,00 miles.
“They cost more because we get the luggage rack and air conditioning on those buses. Even so, new regular buses cost $135,000 now,” Kracht added.
“And we won’t get this one for a year,” he said.
The other bus will be an off-lease bus, expected to have about 26,000 miles on it at the end of the school year.
“That one will cost of $84,500,” Kracht added.
In other business, the district:
•Reviewed it’s Return to School policy
•Updated the Wellness Policy with no significant changes
•Updated the student handbook to allow C.O.E. students to leave school to work for the last four periods of the day.
•Reported all “4’s” in the Clarence Cannon Conference Sportsmanship ranking, which is the highest rating.
