Christopher David Crane

Christopher David Crane, 49 of Canton, Missouri entered his eternal home the morning of Sunday, February 12, 2023 at his home in Canton.

Chris was born January 19, 1974 in Hannibal, Missouri, the son of James M. and Linda L. Byrnes Crane.

He attended Canton R-V School graduating in 1992.  He worked for Janney Construction out of high school until the Fall of 1993.  In the Fall of 1993 he entered Central Missouri State University where he was member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.  He spent the next 17 years in the Kansas City/Blue Springs, Missouri area working in construction and the restaurant industries.  Time in the Kansas City area afforded Chris the opportunity to satisfy his love of the arts: from music, to authors, to local artists creations, he was able to feed his creative nature.  Chris loved the Mid-West with its four seasons, rides to the river and farm with his partner, Scarlet, and his Kansas City Chiefs and Royals teams.  He was an accomplished cook (never accepting the label as “Chef” as he said he did not earn that title).  Elementary, high school, and college friendships were cherished and held close to Chris’s heart.  His smile was the bridge to many life-long relationships.

He is survived by his parents, both of Canton, Mo., a brother, James Michael Crane of Bethalto, Il., niece, Morgan Marie Crane and nephew, James Cooper Crane, both of Bethalto, Il., and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Virginia Schulten Byrnes, paternal grandparents, Morgan and Georgia Crane, stepmother, Becky Crane, an uncle, Emmett Crane and aunts, Connie (Crane) Wolf, Joyce (Crane) Bock, Jeraldine (Crane) Baker and Betty (Crane) Key.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 2 PM until the time of services at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Canton.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 4:00 PM at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri with Rev. Steve Jarvis officiating.  Inurnment will be in the Warren Cemetery at Warren, Missouri at a later date.
