 GERALD SAWYER 

Gerald Sawyer, 85, of Kahoka died Saturday, April 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. 

He was born July 2, 1937 in LaGrange, Missouri the son of Leslie Roy and Stella Faye Weller Sawyer. 

On May 10, 1958 he was united in marriage to Judith Ann Roller. For over sixty-five years they shared a love which saw them through the joys and sorrow of life. 

He was a brick layer for BAC Local 15. He enjoyed being outside working, fishing or mowing the yard. If he wasn’t busy working, you would find him at Steve’s Family Dining drinking coffee. 

He is survived by his wife, Judith Ann Sawyer of Kahoka, two grandchildren, Dylan Mikel Wright (Ayla) of Kahoka and Jade Ann Tate (Jordan) of Kahoka, and three great granddaughters, Aarilynn, Dayla and Whitley with a great grandson on the way. He is also survived by two sisters, Darlean Mohr of Canton and LaNora Davis of Bartlett, TN, sisters-in-law: Betty Sawyer, Nancy Edlen, Gloria Kiger, Jacquilyn Boatman, Kelly Varnold and Tina Roller, two brothers in law: Timothy (Gerry) Roller and Thomas (Sally) Roller and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Noble and Vivian Roller, a daughter, Kari Wright, a son, Kim Sawyer, four sisters: Judy Sawyer Monych, Delores Shannon, Vera (John) McGirl and Virginia Johnson, a brother, Gerry “Dean” Sawyer, two half-brothers: Delbert Weller and Bobby Sawyer, two nephews, Joe Kephart and Kevin Redding, a niece, Barbara “Bobbi” Edlen Blackburn, brothers and sisters-in-law: David and Jackie Kephart, Tony Roller, Susan and Keith Redding, Glenn Mohr, Jim Boatman, Richard Roller, Kenneth Roller, Rex and Joann Roller, Larry Kiger, Darrell Varnold and Jack Edlen. 

Gerald was the true patriarch of his family. He was a wonderful devoted husband, dad and grandpa who leaves his family a lifetime of wonderful memories. 

A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at the Bible Baptist Church in Kahoka with Pastor Tim Roller and Pastor Glen Yoder officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery. 

Visitation was held before the funeral from 10 – 11 a.m. at the church with the family meeting with friends at that time. 

Memorials may be made to Bible Baptist Church or to his great grandchildren’s education fund.
