Kahoka Police Investigate 10 Burglaries Thursday Morning

By Mike Scott

Kahoka police officers are investigating 10 burglaries which occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday, November 8.
Break-ins were reported by Ma&Pa’s, C&R Market, American Family Insurance and Conn Communications, Duer’s, New Techniques, The Ice Cream Shoppe, Dean’s Building Products,  Kahoka Meat Processing and Steve’s Family Dining.  The burglar also attempted to gain entry into Froggie’s Saloon from inside Steve’s, but the firewall prevented access.  An attempt was also made to break into Pamida.
In most cases, the burglar took only small amounts of coin from the cash registers.  However 11 cell phones valued at $2649 were taken from Conn Communications.  A pouch of professional scissors was taken from New Techniques, and C&R had 37 DVD’s, cigarettes, candy  and liquor stolen.
Three of the burglarized businesses have video surveillance equipment, and police have a good description of the suspect.  The video CD’s were going to be taken to the Keokuk Police Department, as they have equipment which can further enhance the images.
Police investigators also recovered good fingerprints and footprints at the crime scenes.
Police are looking for a white male, approximately 18-25 years old.
The Kahoka Police Department is requesting persons who have any information regarding these burglaries contact the police department at 660-727-2911.
