Fall Start Set For Aug. 20
Clark County R-1 schools will start fall classes on August 20 this year.
At Thursday’s meeting, the board held a public hearing to hear concerns.
“I think we lose too much instruction time because of the heat when we start that early,” board member Carmen Arnold said.
The early start will allow students to take ITV classes on NEMONET.  Other schools will also start August 20.
“I think we’re going to sacrifice hundreds of elementary students so a few high school students can use NEMONET,” Arnold added.
“Because of summer school and the NEMONET schedule, we really don’t have a choice,” CCR-1 Superintendent Ritchie Kracht said.
