CCR-1 School Board Hears Baseball Request
CCR-1 School Board Hears Baseball Request
By Mike Scott
“I think we have an overwhelming support for adding baseball. What needs to have for us to have baseball?” CCR-1 student Derek Ryan asked the board at their June meeting, held Monday, June 16. Ryan said dozens of boys were interested in playing the sport.
Three years ago board voted against adding baseball, citing concerns with Title IX, which requires equal opportunity in sports for male and female athletes. Currently, the school would need to add a girls’ sport, such as volleyball, before adding any boys’ sports.
No decision was made.
In other business, the board:
–Voted to accept the Building Trades class bid of $10,000 from Joe and Haley Davidson.
–Discussed high school staffing needs
