Absentee Ballots Ready In County Clerk’s Office

With important national and local elections looming on November 4, Clark County Clerk Leih Ann Hayden wants to make sure Clark County residents get every opportunity to cast their ballot.

“The voter registration deadline is Wednesday, October 8,” Hayden reminded residents. “If you’re not registered by then, you won’t be able to vote on November 4.”
Hayden also voters to contact her office at 660-727-8323 if they have moved within Clark County since the last election.

“If you’re registered in this county, but you have move, just call us and we can take care of that so you won’t have any problems at the polls on November 4,” she said.
If you cannot make it to the polls on November 4, you can cast your ballot as an absentee voter.

To get an absentee ballot, you can go to the courthouse in person or contact Hayden by letter. Absentee voters must provide a reason why they cannot vote on November 4.
College students, members of the military and their families, those incapacitated or caring for an incapacitated person, along with people who will not be in town on election day can request absentee ballots.

The absentee ballot envelopes must be notarized before they will be opened, cautioned Hayden. Absentee ballots for military and incapacitated persons are exempted from the notarization requirement.

“The main things are to request your ballot early, and make sure it’s notarized and back on time,” said Hayden.
