A whirlwind year for the Clark County R-1 High School Class of 2009 came to an end Sunday afternoon, as sixty-seven senior crossed the stage to receive their diplomas, to the loud applause of family and friends.
The High School band played the traditional Processional as the soon-to-be graduates filed in to the gym and took their seats. CCR-1 Superintendent Ritchie Kracht welcomed the students and guest to the ceremony. Members of the choir performed “Thankful” and “Finale B”.
Valedictorian Rachel Daw presented her speech entitled “Fit for the Future”, and Salutatorian Elsa Scott offered an outsiders’ view of the class with her speech “I Wish You Could See”. Class President Cylee Gutting’s speech was, “Let Our Dreams Become Reality”.
The Class of 2009 enjoyed a last few moments together as HL Plenge sand “Time of My Life”.
Principal Jason Harper presented the 2009 Class awards. Rachel Daw was named Valedictorian, and Elsa Scott was name Salutatorian. Both young ladies had a grade point average higher than 4.0. Elsa Scott also received the Outstanding Senior Girl award, and Ethan Allen was named Outstanding Senior Boy.
Cylee Gutting received the Leadership Award, and Angela Suter received the Citizenship award.
Britni Bertelli received the “Person You’d Like Your Child To Be Like”, which is voted on by the graduating class.
Four young women tied for the High ACT score award. They were: Rachel Daw, Elsa Scott, Alicia Tripp and Caitlyn Davis.
