Governor Jay Nixon Visits Kahoka To Promote “Share The Harvest”
On Saturday morning, November 14, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon visited Kahoka Meat Processing and Deli to promote Missouri’s Share The Harvest, which allows hunters to donate their deer to feed the hungry in their area.
Kahoka Meat has been a participating processor for over a decade.
“Share the Harvest is a win-win-win for Missouri,” said Nixon. “There is a real demand for high protein meat for the needy. It also helps manage deer populations throughout the state, and gives local processors the opportunity to help their communities,”
Nixon spent early Saturday morning hunting on the Dave Murphy farm in Clark County. Murphy is the Executive Director of the Conservation Federation of Missouri.
While in Kahoka, Nixon commented about the town’s community support of the Clark County Indian football team.
“I love all the signs,” Nixon said. “Spear the Panthers, Pound the Panthers…when you get into bigger cities, its always so PC (politically correct). You’ll see a sign that says ‘Hope You Do Well’”.
