Fire Destroys Kahoka Home
Kahoka firefighters were on the scene of the house fire for about four hours early Saturday morning, January 9.
According to Kahoka Fire Chief Lary Fountain, firefighters responded to a fire call at the Josh Brunk residence on Garfield Street in Kahoka at about 2:30AM. The fire destroyed the home, garage and a vehicle.
Brunk and his girlfriend were at home at the time of the blaze, and were alerted to the fire by their smoke detectors. They escaped without injury.
The Missouri Fire Marshall reported that the fire started in the garage. He could not determine whether an electrical problem or a wood stove started the fire, or if there was another cause.
