CCR-1 Projects Proceeding Quickly in Good Weather
“We have been so lucky with the weather this fall,” said CCR-1 School Superintendent Ritchie Kracht.
As several of the CCR-1 district’s construction projects near completion, others are just getting started.
At Black Hawk Elementary, the new concrete bus lane behind the building opened Monday, and construction crews were busy tearing out the front driveway, which will be replace with asphalt.
“Hopefully, it will be open next week,” said Kracht.
The new roofing at Black Hawk is nearly complete, and workers are busy fixing drainage problems around the building.
Up the street at the Middle School, the roofing project is already complete, and crews are replacing sidewalks that were removed in that school’s drainage project.
Across town at the High School, crews poured the last areas of concrete for the new front parking lot and driveways on Monday, and are installing a drainage system near the activity field..
At Running Fox Elementary, roofers have been busy replacing the roof, which should be completed in the next two weeks. Work on the new water treatment facility at Running Fox has not started yet, but Kracht expects the contractors to begin soon as their concrete work in Kahoka winds down.
Air conditioning units will be installed at Black Hawk and Running Fox soon, with work being done after school hours.
New lighting at the schools is behind schedule, as the lights are currently back ordered.
“More than likely it will be at least December before those are installed,” said Kracht.
In the mean time, the district has worked with the City of Kahoka to install some lights at the High School.
