CCR-1 School Bus Involved In Accident

Trooper Brian Hillyer assisted by Sergeant Michael Kauth, The Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the Clark County Ambulance and the Clark County Rescue Squad investigated a two vehicle accident on April 15 at 3:51 pm, located on Route D, nine miles southwest of Kahoka.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, a 2004 Chevrolet driven 18-year old Alexandra Hart was southbound and attempted to cross Route D, colliding with a 2008 Thomas a school bus, driven by 50-year old Doris Gates. Hart’s vehicle was struck the right front corner, spinning it around, and it traveling off the left side of the roadway, coming to rest in the ditch. The vehicle was totaled. The school bus ran off the right side of the roadway and came to rest in a field, suffering moderate damage. Gates was wearing a seat belt. The were no students on the school bus at the time of the accident, according to CCR-1 Superintendent Ritchie Kracht.
Hart suffered minor injuries and was transported to Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA by the Clark County Ambulance. She was not wearing a seat belt.
