Settlement Reached in Clark County Courthouse Lawsuit

Settlement Reached in Clark County Courthouse Lawsuit

A negotiated
settlement has been approved by Circuit Judge Gary Dial, Clark County, and the
Missouri Department of Natural Resources in the amount of $20,000.00 in lieu of
the $57,500.00 grant that the County had received for stabilization of the old
Courthouse in 2008.

It is also agreed
upon that the County will install and permanently maintain, in a prominent
location in the new County Courthouse, a permanent exhibit space dedicated to
the history of Clark County, including the old Courthouse.

This
agreement is the result of a lengthy negotiation between the Clark County
Prosecuting Attorney and the Missouri Attorney General’s office that resulted
from a misunderstanding of the language and is designed to allow the County and
State to work cooperatively on other funding opportunities in the future.
