Schools To Start Again Monday
CCR-1 Schools To Start Again Monday
Students in the Clark County R-1 School district will start classes next
Monday, August 22, despite having both the district’s elementary school
buildings closed indefinitely. Classes
were schedule to start Thursday, August 18, but a mold outbreak in Running Fox
and Black Hawk Elementary Schools forced the district to delay its start and
make other plans.
Here are the district’s plans for where students will attend
classes:
Kindergarten-Preschool
Building
1st
Grade-High School Ag classrooms and ITV room
2nd
Grade-High School band rooms
3rd
Grade-High School library
4th
Grade-Middle School band rooms and middle school classroom
5th
Grade-Middle School Library and Computer Lab
Parents will receive a letter giving further details,
including bus schedules, drop-off and pick up locations and times. Elementary parents are asked not to send any
school supplies with their children until they return to their regular
buildings, because there is not space available to store the items at the High
School and Middle School.
Breakfast and lunch schedules are being adjusted to
accommodate the students in each building.
The district will also be adjusting the menu due to the use of only two
of the district’s kitchens.
There will be an orientation meeting on Friday, August 19,
at 5:30 in the High School gym. At
approximately 6:00PM, students and parents can visit their temporary
classrooms.
There is no estimate at this time when the mold cleanup will
be completed. As of Wednesday
afternoon, Kracht was still waiting for the cleaning protocol to arrive from
the environmental hygienist who inspected the buildings. Once that is obtained, companies will be
able to bid on the project.
“I know there are companies that want to do the work,
because they’ve been calling,” Kracht said.
The extensive cleanup will probably require all the items in
the room to be cleaned, including walls, ceilings, rafters, desks, books etc.,
then HEPA vacuumed, and cleaned again to remove the mold.
