Fox River Bridge Being Replaced North of Kahoka
Fox River Bridge Being Replaced North of Kahoka
Travellers on Hwy. 81 north of Kahoka will need to find
another route for the next couple months, as the bridge crossing the Fox River
is being replaced. Work crews started
replacing the 82-year old bridge on Monday, March 5.
The bridge will be
replaced with a nine-foot wider bridge and is expected to open by mid-May. The
official detour include US 136, US 61/27, ant Route C. Clark County has been adding additional rock
to many of the gravel roads which will likely serve as an unofficial detour.
Last Tuesday, MoDOT officials hosted a public meeting at the
Clark County High School to discuss the plans.
One concern was the impact of the closure on Clark County R-1 School bus
routes, especially if the gravel roads are soft.
CCR-1 Superintendent Ritchie Kracht expressed his confidence
that the school and county could work together to minimize the effect.
In addition, MoDOT officials said that two more bridge
closures are scheduled on Rt. D, starting in April.
The bridge at the Little Wyaconda River will be closed for
replacement on April 16, and the bridge crossing the Wyaconda River will be
closed April 30.
Both are smaller bridges, and the expected closure time is
40-50 days.
