MoDOT would like to remind motorists with the rain and saturated ground, many ditches in northeast Missouri are water or snow filled, and motorists could encounter standing or running on roads that do not frequently flood. Crews are working in several areas to open culverts for better drainage. It only takes six inches of water to lose control of a vehicle, and the depth of water on a road is not always obvious and can be especially hard to judge at night. Please slow down and drive cautiously, pay extra attention to signs and low areas on roads where water can pool.

All closures can be found online at http://www.modot.org/ on the Traveler Information Map.  Since waters rise and fall quickly during flash flooding, it is recommended motorists check the website or call 1-888-275-6636 for the latest information.DSC_0140 DSC_0149
