VFW Post 4243 Donates To Honor Flight

The VFW Post 4342 and Ladies Auxiliary hosted a fried chicken dinner on January 3, with all proceeds going to the Great River Honor Flight.  Through the generous donations of the community, they were able to donate $1200 to the Honor Flight.

On Thursday, March 13, WGEM’s Matt Schmidt and General Manager Carlos Fernandez visited the VFW Post to accept the check from Post Commander Rick Davis.

To date, there have been 23 Great River Honor Flights, giving 677 veterans the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C.  Clark County veteran’s who have taken the flight include James Worster, Howard Evermon, Donald Dietrich, Harold Gares, George Martin, Leland Schuster, Stuart Haferty, Vernon Gutting, Thomas Rossi, Richard Schreiber, Bill Ragan, Walter Buckallew, Theron McCoy, Melvin Martin, Wesley Knupp, Charles Kerr, Allen Cameron, Phillip Hall, Hugh Summers and Calvin Meier.
