Kahoka Spared Worst of Storm Damage

Kahoka was spared the worst of a powerful storm system that rolled across Iowa and northeast Missouri Thursday evening.  Although a tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service, and sirens wailed in Kahoka and Wayland, no tornado was reported.

Trees down and power outages were reported in Revere and St. Francisville, but the hardest hit area seems to be centered on the Alexandria area.

A video of the storm approaching Kahoka can be seen below:

On Friday morning, these photos were taken in and near Alexandria.

This field of corn was blown down.

The western part of Clark County, in the Luray and Medill and Ashton areas, hail was reported. Near Gorin in Scotland County, 2 inch hail was reported.

In Kahoka, my house had just of 2.5 inches of rain, and a report from Wayland had over 4 inches.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
