Family Escapes Kahoka House Fire
Kahoka, MO – Thursday, March 7, 2019 – Press Release from the Kahoka/Clark County Fire Department – This morning at 6:43 am, a structure fire at 333 Westwood Drive in Kahoka was reported to the Clark County Dispatch Center. The Kahoka Fire Department responded with two engines, an equipment truck and 15 firefighters. Assisting in the call were two ambulances from Clark County Ambulance District and the Kahoka Police Department.
On arrival, smoke was observed coming from the front of the house, with flames visible in the front door and front windows. Those first on scene quickly attacked from the doorway until additional firefighters were able to make safe entry into the residence.
Once the fire was out, recovery efforts were conducted to identify and extinguish hot spots in the living room area. Heavy fire damage was found in the front entryway and the living room, with smoke damage throughout the rest of the house. The five members of the household were transported to Scotland County Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
The Red Cross was notified of the event and is attempting to make contact with the family.
